- "The ensemble is formed around the accompanying instruments of the basso
continuo, combining the spontaneity of improvisation with careful attention to the
particular colours of each repertoire -- ranging from solo songs to baroque opera, from
medieval drama to new music for early instruments, from the delicacy of instrumental
chamber music to the exuberance of Irish dance."

- Director : Georg Corall
- Year ensemble formed : 1996 -- by Georg Corall (oboe)
- Description : Modelled on the historical bands of oboists (Hoboistenbanden or
Hoboistencompagnien), the aim in forming the band was to establish a robust ensemble which
could perform wind music on its own, yet also accompany string orchestras. The focus in
wind music is the typical repertoire of the baroque Oboebands which includes the
performance limited to oboes and bassoons alone or including horns, trumpets, recorders
and sometimes string instruments. Special attention is given to the performance in low
French pitch and in the use of the original fingerings as well as the attempt to recreate
the sound of the early oboes by using all the knowledge we have about early reed
materials. As the ensemble is a group of different instrumentalists, it is able to form
the whole group of wind instruments for an orchestral performance. The number of musicians
performing varies in size from 3-10.
