  • Specializes in Medieval European repertory from ca. 1150 to ca. 1400. The group presents programs featuring works for voices, harp, recorders, transverse flute, bagpipes, sinfonye (Medieval hurdy-gurdy), vielles (Medieval fiddles), psaltry, and a variety of percussion instruments.
  • The ensemble is named after Magister Johannes de Garlandia (fl. mid-13th century). He was a lecturer at the University of Paris.  In his two surviving essays, he explained the princpals of modal rhythm as they related to the "organum" of the School of Notre Dame in the pre-mensural notation era.
