priest who was born in Abbéville, France, in 1588 and died in Buenos Aires in 1639. He
brought the viola da gamba to the Rio De La Plata, and through his work as musician,
director and teacher, raised the musical quality of the region.
- Mission : The ensemble researches and performs latin american baroque
music on original instruments or copies thereof. This mission includes the use of violins,
cello, bassetto and harp copied from jesuitic instruments of the XVIIIth century that
survive in museums in Bolivia. The aim of Ensamble Louis Berger is to rediscover the lost
musical heritage of XVII and XVIII century South America, and to let it shine through its
original musical media.

- Description : The ensemble consists of musicians who specialize in
performing both sacred and profane repertories of the Middle Age and the
Renaissance. The retrieval of such repertories is the result of close research
into the musical sources, the literature and the history of the periods taken
into consideration. ECA is able to change and enrich their consorts by the
contribution of experts in the field of performance as well in the ambit of
theory. As far as voices are concerned, the singers vary each time according
to the polyphony, having a preference for male voices and counter tenor.
